Grid Expert Advisor
The MT4 Trading Strategy Tester in the MT4 platform is the environment used to backtest the profitability of an MT4 Automated Expert Advisor which is an Automated Bot and determine the profitability of this Grid EA automated strategy and then Optimize this Grid Bot to a point where it is giving good profits from its automated activities.
Note: Before beginning MT4 Trading Strategy Tester illustrated & shown below, you must first attach a Automated Gold Expert-Advisor on a MetaTrader 4 chart, by going to Navigator Window, choosing the Grid Robot and then right click on it and specify the option "Attach to Chart", once the Grid Bot is attached to the MetaTrader 4 chart it will appear as it is illustrated below, Then Right Click the Automated Expert Advisor, choose properties settings and then select the option by Checking/Ticking "Allow Live Trading" & then continue with the MetaTrader 4 strategy tester illustrated below.
The MetaTrader 4 strategy-tester option can be activated from the view menu & it's the second last menu item on View Menu, A short-cut is to Press Ctrl+R MetaTrader 4 button keys on your keyboard.
The Meta Trader 4 strategy Tester has the following Parameters for setting up before testing an Automated Gold Expert-Advisor automated system & also for optimizing the profitability of this Grid Trading Bot.
Automated Gold Expert-Advisor: Parameter for choosing which xauusd Grid Robot you want to test among those installed on your MT4 platform.
Symbol: The chart for which you want to test out the Automated EA on
Model: Whether to execute depending on tick method, open prices or control points
Use Date: Set the date to begin the testing and date to end the testing of the Automated Gold Expert-Advisor
Visual Mode: Choose To view the illustration of where this Grid Bot opens and closes trade as the testing goes on, there also a slide bar to increase or decrease the speed for the visual mode.
Period: Chart Timeframe for which to use examples 1 Hour Chart
Optimization: Allow Optimization Settings for your Automated Gold Expert-Advisor Automated Robot
For example, to test out the above Automated ++1EA on the trade for profitability, the settings can be setup as highlighted ++1and shown above ++1& the MetaTrader platform strategy tester is then run, by pressing the "Start Button".
Following trade results are generated and an automated trader can choose to optimize the Grid Bot further by changing the Automated Expert Advisors settings.
Once optimization of Automated Gold Expert-Advisor is complete the status bar will show progress, the above status bar highlights the progress that the Grid Robot testing is complete.
To view result click the options high-lighted above (Optimization Result, Optimization Graph, Journal)
Prior to running this Grid Strategy - Intraday Grid Strategy for Automated Expert Advisor testing you must navigate to navigator window panel, double click on this Grid Trading Bot to attach it to the chart & set the parameters as illustrated & shown below by ticking the options provided below:
After setting up the above parameters then you can test out your automated strategy within the MT4 strategy tester.
