After you have signed up for a demo demo trading account - you'll use the trading account log in credentials and you as a xauusd trader can use then download and install MT5 platform on your computer. If you haven't set up any software before go to file where you downloaded it (do not know where that's, just do this Press both Ctrl & J i.e. CTRL+J or (CTRL+Y) Keys on your keyboard, & your downloads will pop up), double click the download MetaTrader 5 file and click next, next until you finish installing.

After you have installed the MetaTrader 5 platform you will then open the MT5 from the begin menu of your PC Desktop computer. After you have opened the MT5 you will see the MT5 interface you will be working with which might seem complicated at first but it is not.

At the 'top left corner' of the MT5 platform click the 'File' Menu, a dropdown menu appears, scroll to where you see 'Log in ' & click it. You will then be prompted to enter 'username' and 'password' that you got when you registered for a MT5 practice trading account on your broker's website.' You are now logged in to your MetaTrader 5 platform & you are ready to start trading on MT5 software.

After this you'll see your account balance portrayed just below the charts and you can now begin using the MT5 platform software to place demo trades in the market.
