MT5 Chart Time-Frames: Periodicity on Charts in MetaTrader 5

Periodicity is often known as Chart Time-Frames by many traders. On the MetaTrader 5 platform.

The button key below is used to choose the periodicity or chart time-frame to trade with. This button can be accessed on the MT5 platform as shown below.

MT5 Chart Timeframe Charts

On the MT5 platform these chart time-frames are:

  1. 1 Min Time Frame - M1
  2. 5 Minutes Time Frame - M5
  3. 15 Minutes Time Frame - M15
  4. 30 Minutes Chart Time Frame - M30
  5. 1 H Chart Time Frame - H1
  6. 4 Hours Time Frame - H4
  7. Daily Time Frame - D1
  8. Weekly Time Frame - W1
  9. Monthly Time Frame - MN

How to Know Which Chart Time-Frame You are Using

A common question especially if you're new to xauusd would be how to identify which chart timeframe you are using on your MT5 platform:

There are various methods of knowing which MT5 chart time-frame you are using as Portrayed below:

Use the above Menu as Shown above

In the above example once you choose the periodicity button under the charts menu, then the listing of xauusd MT5 chart timeframes is shown and the chart time-frame that is currently chosen, the one that you are using will be highlighted with a different color, on our example above this is the 1 Hour(H1) chart timeframe, whose Icon on the left is highlighted in light blue.

This MT5 periodicity MT5 toolbar is by default located at the top of the MT5 platform & has all the time frames marked as illustrated below. The chart time-frame that a trader is using will be highlighted differently from the other chart timeframes, the selected chart time-frame will be "indented" as illustrated below:

When you open a chart you can then use above three methods to know which periodicity - time frame you're trading with.

You also can use the tabs, if you are trading many charts. To view this tab, Go to "View Menu" then Choose "Charts Bar". The following MT5 bar will appear that you can use to navigate and it indicates the as well as the chart time-frame.
