History Center on Tools Menu in MetaTrader 5 Software Platform

The history center in MT5 is located in tools menu. The history center will start to store data for every trading chart which you open on the MT5, This means that if you open the MT4 Symbol M15 chart, then from that point on the MT5 history center will store information for this MT4 Symbol time-frame and every time you login again to the platform to trade this information will be updated with the most recent bitcoin prices & will then stored.

History Center on Tools Menu in the MT5 Software - MT5 Download BTCUSD Price Data to Test BTCUSD Automated EAs

This also means that for any other chart not opened in your MT5 the platform will not start to save data for that chart. For example, if you only open M15 for MT4 Symbol only info for M15 will be stored, and not for MT4 Symbol 1H or MT4 Symbol 4H chart. Hence, if you want to start saving records for 1H & H4, then you must start by opening these time-frame and the data will start to get saved from this point.

In the trading example shown below, the MT4 Symbol Time frames are Shown, However only M15, H1 & H4 Icons are highlighted yellow and Green meaning info is being saved and updated to the History center. All others are Gray in color, meaning they haven't yet been opened on this btcusd crypto platform. To change this and have these charts start to update and have the bitcoin price information saved, just open any time-frame for the MT4 Symbol, e.g. the 30 minutes & the Icon for this timeframe will change immediately from Gray to Yellow and Green, do the same for all others.

Download Bitcoin Price Data on to MetaTrader 5 History Center

From the above example you can see the format that MT5 uses to store bitcoin price data info as figures, these figures are the ones used to replicate the trading chart.

Why Use the MT5 History Center

Because of the format of storing data in figures it means that these figures can be analyzed using mathematical formulas and mathematical techniques can then be used to trade by interpreting bitcoin prices.

These Mathematical trading methods are implemented for trading using computer programs. Computer programs will be programmed using these mathematical techniques & formulas. This will produce what in coding is referred to as algorithm, these algorithms are implemented on MT5 using programs known as Automated EAs - Automated BTCUSD Programs.

This Automated EAs answer the question why the need for the History center? The info stored is used by traders to test their automated Bitcoin Trade Automated EAs to get an idea of how these Expert Advisor Bitcoin Robots would have traded and then determine whether they are profitable or not. If these are profitable, traders implement these automated trading systems on the live trading market, if not then a trader changes and alters their mathematical formulas and reprograms the trading algorithm, then tests this new trading algorithm with the same market data on the history center until such a time time when the the trader will program and code an algorithm that is profitable enough to trade the live BTCUSD crypto market & make profitable trades.

One of the methods of obtaining this price data on to the history center is to download it using the download button key like illustrated and shown below: However, this downloaded figures tend to have market gaps & may give inaccurate algorithm testing information, hence as a btcusd trader it's best to usethe data which has been downloaded by the trading platform itself after installing & setting it up on your computer. That means using the the information that's available from the time when you downloaded the platform software & started to trade with it, even if it's just a couple of weeks or just a couple of months.

How to Download Bitcoin Price Data on MT5 History Center

If you want to begin testing these Automated EAs then for every bitcoin trading you trade you must open that bitcoin chart, and also opening all the time-frames of that chart, that is the following:

  1. 1 Minute - M1
  2. 5 Minute - M5
  3. 15 Minute - M15
  4. 30 Minute - M30
  5. H1 - 1H
  6. 4 Hour - H4
  7. Daily - D1
  8. Weekly - W1
  9. Monthly - MN

In testing your Automated Bitcoin Trading Automated EA, select the start date as the date when you'll execute the above operation of downloading all the data for these chart time-frames, so as to ensure your Automated EAs are using correct info and give you the right results.

Because of this reason/explanation you should not download any data on your MetaTrader 5, just use the data that is available after you open the charts just as is shown above & start from that point onwards.
