Place Average Directional Movement Index, ADX Indicator on Chart

This Tutorial will explain how to place the Average Directional Movement Index, ADX indicator on Forex charts on the MetaTrader 4 Platform. For Technical analysis: ADX Analysis.

ADX Indicator is a Leading Forex Indicator and is used by traders to determine if there is a trend on the chart, ADX Indicator Values above 20 indicate a strongly trending market & this is used by traders to determine when to open a trade - when ADX indicator values are above 20. ADX is also used by traders to determine when to close trades - if ADX indicator values go below 20 - this is used as an exit signal because it indicates the current trend is losing momentum.

How to Place Technical Indicators on MetaTrader 4 Charts

Step 1: Open Navigator Window on Forex Software

Open Navigator panel as shown & illustrated below: Go to "View" menu (click on it), then choose "Navigator" window (click), or From Standard Tool Bar click "Navigator" button or press keyboard shortcut keys "Ctrl+N"

On Navigator panel, select 'Indicators', (Double-Click)

Step 2: Expand the Indicators Menu on the Navigator

Expand the indicator menu by clicking the expand button marker (+) or double-click "indicators" menu, after that, this button key will then now appear as (-) and will now show as a list as shown below.

From the Above panel you then can place any indicator you want on the chart.

Placing Average Directional Movement on a Chart

Step 1: Select the Average Directional Movement Index button on the MetaTrader 4 list of indicators as shown below:

Step 2: Double click ADX Button, & click okay to insert the indicator on chart as shown & illustrated below:

Edit ADX Indicator Setting

To Change Settings, right click in ADX, choose properties and then edit properties of indicator using pop-up menu that pops and click ok button after you've changed settings.

The following popup appears & ADX settings can be edited from this popup window.
