How Do You Count Pips in the MetaTrader 4 for Nano Account Nano Lots?

How to Calculate Pips for a Nano Account

This course covers three ways to count pips in a nano account. It explains profits and losses for nano lot trades in forex.

A pip is the smallest move a currency pair can make in forex. When you're trading nano lots, a 1 pip move equals $0.01 (that's 100 units of currency times 0.0001).

For example, if EUR USD goes from 1.1000 to 1.1001, this equals 1 pip: 1 pip is the fourth number after the decimal in the forex quote.

The profit or loss will be:

1.1001 - 1.1000 = 1 pip

1 pip* $0.01 per 1 pip = $0.01

Therefore, 1 pip move for Nano lot is equivalent to $0.01

If the trade goes the way the trader thought it would, the trader will earn a profit of $0.01. If the trade goes against what the trader thought, the trader will have a loss of $0.01 dollars.

For instance, if EUR USD changes from 1.1000 to 1.1050, that's like 50 pips, with one pip being the 4th number after the dot in the fx quote.

The profit or loss will be:

1.1050 - 1.1000 = 50 pips

50 pip* $0.01 per 1 pip = $0.5

Hence, 50 pips move for Nano lot is equal to $0.5

Should the transaction move as anticipated, the trader secures a profit of $0.5. Conversely, if the transaction proceeds contrary to the intended direction, the trader incurs a loss totaling $0.5 dollars.

Example 3: If the EURUSD goes from 1.1000 to 1.1100, that's 100 pips - 1 pip is the 4th number after the dot in the fx currency price.

The profit or loss will be:

1.1100 - 1.1000 = 100 pips

100 pip* $0.01 per 1 pip = $1

Therefore, 100 pips move for Nano contract/lot is equivalent to $1 dollar

If the executed trade moves favorably (in the direction of the trade), the trader accrues a $1 profit. Conversely, if the trade moves adversely (against the direction of the trade), the result is a $1 loss.
