How to Identify a Commodity Trading Trend

When it comes to identifying trends in commodities trading - traders need to learn the correct way of identifying commodities trend on commodity charts.

A commodity trend is a general direction of commodity price in the commodity market and this general direction can either be upwards or downwards. When the commodity trend is upwards it means that commodity prices are closing higher than where they opened & therefore the general commodity trend direction of commodity prices is upwards. When the commodity trend is downwards it means that commodity prices are closing lower than where they opened and therefore the general commodity trend direction of commodity prices is downwards.

To identify a commodity trend commodity trader will use a sequence of commodity price highs or commodity price lows.

Traders will then draw a commodity trend-line connecting commodity price highs or commodity price lows & this commodity trend line will then indicate the direction of the trend whether upwards or downward.

Commodity Upwards Trend

To identify a commodity upward trend commodity trader will identify commodity price lows that are sloping upwards and then use a commodity trend-line - upwards commodity trend line to connect these commodity price lows and once this trend line is drawn on the commodities chart it'll then be used to identify the upwards trend.

Commodities Downwards Trend

To identify a commodity downward trend commodity trader will identify commodity price highs that are sloping downwards and then use a commodity trend-line - downward commodity trend line to connect these commodity price highs & once this trend line is drawn on the commodities chart it'll then be used to identify the downwards trend.

Once commodity traders draw and identify a commodity trend using commodity trend line - traders will then open commodities trades in the direction of this commodities trend. This is because once prices start to move in a commodity trend direction - the commodity prices will keep moving in that direction for some time and this is why commodity traders identify the commodity trend first & use this commodity trend to open commodities trades in the direction for the commodities trend.
