Stock for Beginner Traders
Setting up Demo Account and MT4 Stocks Platform
To start stock trading a beginner will need to set up a practice stocks account which they can practice trading stocks with before opening a real stocks account. A practice account commonly referred to as a demo stocks account is a stocks account provided by a broker so that a beginner trader can learn to execute stock trades risk free and at the same time learn the stock trading platform of the broker.
Stock Platform
Before you learn the stocks MT4 platform, you will need to download and install the MT4 stock platform on your computer.
After downloading MT4 stock platform, you will need to log into your stocks practice account that you registered with your stocks broker. Register a practice stocks account. Once you log into your demo stocks account the MT4 stock platform will look like the screen shot examples illustrated & described below.
Explanation
Toolbars - MT4 toolbars are used to setup the stocks tools within the MT4 stock platform
Market watch – Show stocks price quotes, stocks quotes of stocks instruments
Data Window - Shows Stocks Account Data
Charts panel - Shows stocks charts
Charts Tabs - Shows open stocks charts in tabs
Terminal - Shows Summary of stocks account balance and open trades
Connection - Shows if the trading platform software is connected to the broker or not
Exchange Rates - Shows stocks chart prices in the form of a graph and also the current stocks price on a stocks chart.
Now that as a beginner trader you know what each window of the stocks platform represents, let’s look at the charts toolbar that is mostly used when trading with the MT4 stock platform.
On the charts Navigation Menu there are various Tabs
Menu Bar
File - Open an account, Log into account
View – choose toolbars to view
Insert - Insert stocks tools such as stocks trend lines and other stocks chart indicators
Chart – Change Stock Chart settings
Tools - Change MT4 stock platform settings
Window Panel - View a stocks chart window for any stocks instrument or for a different chart timeframe
Help - Topics which explain the documentation of the MT4 stock platform
Tool Bars
Toolbars are used for quick access to MT4 stocks tools. Each toolbar has a name that represents the types of stocks tools for that toolbar. As a trader you'll have to explore by clicking these button keys to learn what each stocks tool is used for. Generally, hovering the mouse pointer over a button will name what the button does.
