MT5 Strategy Tester Window

The Meta Trader 5 Stocks Strategy Tester in the MT5 platform is the environment used to back-test the profitability of an MT5 Automated Expert Advisor which is an Automated Robot and determine the profitability of this EA automated strategy and then Optimize this EA to a point where it's giving good profits from its automated activities.

NB: Before starting the MT5 Stocks Strategy Tester shown below, you must first attach a Automated EA on a MT5 stocks chart, by going to the Navigator Window Panel, choosing the stocks EA and then right click on it and specify the option 'Attach to Chart', once the EA is attached to the MT5 stocks chart it will then appear as it is shown below, Then Right-Click on the Automated Expert Advisor, choose property setting & then choose the option by Checking/Ticking 'Allow Live Trading' and then continue with the MT5 strategy tester shown below.

The Meta Trader 5 strategy tester option can be activated from the view menu & it is the second last menu item on the View Menu, A short cut is to Press Ctrl+R MT5 buttons on your keyboard.

The MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester contains the following Settings Parameters for setting up prior to testing-out an Automated EA automated system and also for optimizing the profitability of this EA.

Automated Automated Expert-Advisor: Parameter for selecting which EA you want to test among those installed on your MT5 platform.

Symbol: The stocks instrument for which you as a trader want to test the stocks Automated EA on

Model: Whether to execute based on tick technique, open prices or control points

Use Date: Set the date to start the testing & the date to end the testing of the stocks Automated Automated Expert-Advisor

Visual Mode: Select To view the illustration of where this Expert-Advisor opens and closes trade as the testing goes on, there's also a slide bar to increase or decrease speed for this visual mode.

Period: Stock Chart Time Frame for which to use example 1 Hour Chart

Optimization: Allow Optimization Settings for your Automated EA Automated Robot

For example to test the above stocks Automated EA on the stock trading for profitability, the settings can be set up as shown above & the MetaTrader platform strategies tester is then run, by clicking 'Start Button'.

Following trade results are generated and an automated trader can choose to optimize the stocks EA further by changing the Automated Expert Advisors settings.

Once the optimization of the stocks Automated Automated Expert-Advisor is complete the status bar will show progress, the above status bar highlights the progress that the stocks EA testing is complete.

To view result click on the options high lighted above (Optimization Result, Optimization Graph, Journal)

Before running this MT5 Strategy Tester for Automated Expert Advisor testing you must go to the navigator panel, doubleclick on this EA to attach it to the chart and set the parameters as displayed below by ticking options provided below:

After setting the above settings then you can test your automated strategy within the MT5 strategy tester.
