Meta Trader 4 Data Window - MetaTrader 4 Software Tutorial

MetaTrader 4 Data window shows information about a currency pair, for a specified candlestick period. For exemplification the charts below, shows how to choose and select data window from view menu options.(Ctrl+D is shortcut key for displaying the data panel without having to go to the view menu)

Data Window - MetaTrader 4 Software Platform

Once the info panel is chosen and selected it will display, the following information about a forex pair.

The following information for a currency pair is shown:

Currency Pair
Date
Time
Open Price
High
Low
Close Price
Volume

This data will show info for a particular candle, by scrolling your mouse over the candlesticks on a trading chart this info will change to reflect the price candle that the mouse has pointed at.

The data window isn't popularly used in the MetaTrader 4 Platform as compared and analyzed to the other MetaTrader 4 chart windows. However as a currency trader you can use this data panel to extract & display information & data about any price candle & the prices associated with this candlestick like the opening price info, closing price data and high and low of price.

Because many FX traders can obtain this data directly from the charts, then the FX traders may prefer to use information that is readily available on chart within the MetaTrader 4 software inter-face.

Another method to get this data is to use the Cross-Hair Mouse Pointer, To get the Cross Hair Mouse Pointer one only requires to press down and hold down the wheel mouse button and the Cross-Hair will then appear. If your mouse does not have a wheel button, please go and purchase another one so that as you as a trader can trade the MT4 cross hair. And from the Cross-Hair a forex trader can get the price data just as is illustrated and shown below.

From the Cross-Hair above the vertical line will show information on the date for the current candlestick, the horizontal line will show price of the currency at that particular point on the chart. For the above example of EURUSD chart you as a trader can see that the date is 2013.10.31 4:00GMT and the Price of the Currency is 1.37248 for the selected point. The Open, High, Low, Close & Volume and also the Date is Shown and Displayed Just below the Charts tab at the bottom of the MetaTrader 4 Platform Software, Marked as O: H: L: C: V: therefore the cross hair is a short cut method of viewing data instead of going to the Data Panel Window of the MT4

A trader can even click one point, hold down the mouse and move the mouse to another chart level to measure the pip movement of price from point to a point on the charts in the MetaTrader 4 Software as Shown below.
