Trend Identification

The MA indicator can be used as an indicator for generating signals. A buy or a sell signal gets derived & generated when price either moves above or below the MA technical indicator, respectively.

If the moving average slants upward, the overall market trend points up.

On the other hand, if the Moving Average is trending downwards in a diagonal manner, it signifies that the general market trend is downward.

As long as the price of gold stays higher than the moving average, the trend will keep going up. The MA will be like a 'support area,' and the gold chart's candlesticks shouldn't end up lower than the MA.

When the price of gold goes higher than the Moving Average and stays there, it means it's time to buy.

Traders, that want to confirm the trade signal before implementing it, should wait until the Moving Average line turns and starts and begins to move in an upward trend direction. It's always best to wait for the confirmation signal so as to minimize chances of a whipsaw.

Downwards Trend/Bearish Market

A falling moving average points to a downtrend. It triggers a sell or short trade signal.

If the gold price stays below the MA, then the trend will continue to go down. The MA will act as a "resistance zone," and the price of candlesticks should not close above the MA Moving Average.

Sell Signal

A sell signal is triggered when the price of gold drops beneath the Moving Average and records a close below that MA line.

If you want to confirm a signal, wait until the MA line turns and starts heading down. This helps you avoid falling for a fake out.
