How to Place Indicators on MetaTrader 4 Charts

Step 1: Open The Platform Software Navigator Window

Open the Navigator window as seen here. Go to the View menu and click Navigator. You can also use the button on the Standard Toolbar. You can also press Ctrl+N.

On the Navigator panel, select 'Indicators', (Double-Click)

Step 2: Expand Indicators Menu on the Navigator

To see all the options in the indicator menu, click the plus sign or double-click on "indicators," and after that, the plus will change to a minus sign, showing a list as pictured below.

From the panel above, you can then place any indicator of your choice on the trading chart.

Placing ATR on a Chart

Step 1: Find and select the Average True Range button from the MT4 indicator collection, as shown in the illustration below:

Step 2: Click the Average True Range Button twice and select ok to apply the ATR to the chart, as demonstrated below.

Edit Indicator Settings

To modify the current specifications, right-click on the ATR indicator, choose 'Properties Settings,' and then proceed to edit the technical indicator's preferences via the menu that emerges, completing the adjustment by clicking the 'OK' button after alterations are made.
