Linear Regression Acceleration Indicator Analysis
Linear Regression Acceleration calculates changes in the regression line's gradient/slope on the present price bar from its gradient/slope from previous price candlestick. The value used to calculate the linear regression is known & referred to as the normalized acceleration value which is plotted/drawn for each price candlestick formed on the chart.

Linear Regression Acceleration
If the normalized acceleration is 0.30, then regression line normalized slanting slope will be moving up at a rate of 0.30 per each price candlestick.
Similarly, a normalized slope of -0.40 would signal that the regression line normalized slanting slope is declining/falling at a rate of -0.40 per each price candlestick.
Say the current candlestick's slope is 0.40 after normalizing. The last one was 0.20. Subtract them to get the bar's acceleration: 0.20.
NB: It's important to realize that a positive acceleration reading does not equate to a positive slope value, it simply means that the the slope's gradient is increasing. A negative acceleration reading does not equate to a negative slope value, it simply means the the slope's gradient is decreasing.
Implementation of the Linear Acceleration Regression Trading Indicator
Linear Regression Acceleration indicator allows the following: price period choice, regression periods selection, smoothing of the price before applying regression function and choice of the smoothing type.
Resulting regression slope is shown as a bi-colored histogram which oscillates above & below 0.
The reference line is set at 0 level mark.
- A rising upward slope: (higher than that of its previous/prior value - of 1 bar before) is displayed & shown in the upwards slope colour.
- A declining/falling slope: (lower and lesser than that of its previous/prior value - of 1 bar before) is put to display using the downwards slope color.
