Guide on Incorporating and Setting the Alligator Indicator on MetaTrader 4 Charts

Step 1: Open the Navigator Window on Trading Platform

Open Navigator panel like is shown: Go to the 'View' menu (click on it), then select 'Navigator' window (click), or From Standard ToolBar click the 'Navigator' button or press key board short-cut keys 'Ctrl+N'

On Navigator panel, choose 'Technical Indicators', (DoubleClick)

Step 2: Open Indicators in Navigator Panel - Add Alligator Indicator to MT4 Chart

Expand this menu by pressing the enlarge(+) button target " + " or doubleclick the 'indicators' menu, after that the button will appear and be shown as (-) & will now display a list as is shown below - choose the Alligator chart indicator from this list of indicators so that to add the Alligator on the chart.

How to Set Custom Alligator to MT4

If the indicator you want to add is a custom technical indicator - for example if the Alligator you as a trader want to add is a custom indicator you will need to first add this custom Alligator on the MT4 software & then compile custom Alligator so that as the newly added Alligator custom technical indicator pops up on the list of custom technical indicators in Meta Trader Four.

The Alligator technical indicator puts together 3 Moving Average(MA) lines using special math and ideas about how things grow in nature.

The 3 smoothed MAs are:

  • The green (Lips) 5 period Smoothed Moving Average, with a shift of 3 bars into the future.

When the Jaw, the Teeth, and the Lips are closed, it means the Alligator is going to sleep or is already sleeping. As it sleeps, it gets more and more hungry. The longer it sleeps, the hungrier it will be when it wakes up. The first thing it does when it wakes up is open its mouth wide and yawn. Then it smells good food: the flesh of a bull or a bear, and the Alligator starts hunting it. When it has eaten enough and is full, the Alligator loses interest in the food/price (Balance Lines come together) - this is the time to take your profit.
