MT4 XAU/USD Software Tutorial
MT4 Data panel shows information about a instrument, for a specified candlestick period. For example the charts below, shows how to choose data panel window from the view menu options.Ctrl+D is the shortcut for displaying data panel without having to get it from the view menu)
Data Window - MT4 XAU/USD Software
Once the info panel window is chosen and selected it will show, the following information about a xauusd.
The following information for a xauusd is shown:
- Gold Trading Instrument
- Date
- Time
- Open Price
- High
- Low
- Close Price
- Volume
This data will show information for a particular candle-stick, by scrolling your mouse over the candlesticks on a chart this information will change to reflect the price candle that the mouse has pointed at.
The data window isn't popularly used in the MT4 Platform as compared & analyzed to the other MT4 gold chart windows. However as a gold trader you as a trader can use this data panel to extract and display info and data about any price candle and the prices associated with this candle such as the opening price data, closing price data & high and low of price.
Because many traders can obtain this info directly from the charts, then the traders might prefer to use info that is readily available in the Trading chart within the MetaTrader 4 software platform inter-face.
Another technique/method to get this data is to use the Cross Hair Mouse Pointer, To get the Cross-Hair Mouse Pointer one only requires to press down and hold down the wheel mouse button & the Cross Hair will appear. If your mouse does not have a wheel button, please go & buy another one so that as you as a gold trader can trade the MetaTrader 4 cross hair. And from the Cross Hair one can get the price data as shown below.

From the Cross-Hair above the vertical line will show data on the date for the current candlestick, the horizontal line will show the price at that particular point/level on the chart. For the above example of Gold chart you as a trader can see the date is 2013.10.31 4:00GMT and the Price is shown & displayed for the chosen and selected point. The Open, High, Low, Close & Volume and also the Date is Shown and Displayed Just below the Charts tab at the bottom of the MetaTrader 4 Software, Marked as O: H: L: C: V: thence the cross hair is a short cut method of viewing data instead of going to the Data Panel Window of the MT4
A trader can even press one point, hold down the mouse & move the mouse to another chart level to measure the pip movement of trading price from point to point on the Trading charts in the MT4 Trading Platform as Shown below.
