Technical Analysis of the Alligator Indicator and Trade Signals Generated for Bitcoin
Created and Developed by Bill William
The Alligator indicator puts together 3 moving average lines that use fractal geometry along with nonlinear calculation.
The three smoothed MAs are:
- The green line (Lips) 5-period Smoothed MA Moving Average, with a shift of 3 bars in to the future.
- The red line (Teeth) 8-period Smoothed Moving Average, with a shift of 5 bars in to the future.
- The blue-line (Jaw) 13-period Smoothed MA Moving Average, with a shift of 8 bars in to the future.

Lips, Teeth & Jaw show the interaction of different timeframe periods.
BTCUSD Crypto Analysis & How to Generate Trade Signals
When the Jaw, Teeth, and Lips come together or cross over each other, it indicates the Alligator is going to sleep or is already asleep. While it sleeps, it becomes increasingly hungry: the longer it sleeps, the more hungry it becomes when it wakes. The first action it takes after waking up is to open its mouth wide and yawn. Then, it detects the scent of tasty food: the flesh of a bull or the flesh of a bear, and the Alligator begins its hunt. After eating until it's very satisfied, the Alligator loses interest in food/bitcoin price (Balance Lines meet) – this signals the right moment to secure your profits.
